You find a seat near an outlet, open your laptop, and reach into your bag. The charger is there. The USB-C cable is still plugged into the power strip under your desk at home.

It’s a small packing mistake that can interrupt a whole afternoon.

The ChubbyCharge MagCore keeps a retractable USB-C cable inside the charger, with a magnetic snap to hold the connector in place between uses. But before you make room for it in your bag, there are three things worth checking.

1. Will the Cable Reach Where You Actually Sit?

Start with the outlet.

A socket beside a café table is a different setup from one near the floor or behind a hotel bed. MagCore’s built-in cable extends to 27.6 inches, about 70 cm. Measure that distance from your usual outlet to where your device rests, allowing a little slack at the connector.

If the outlet is nearby, the built-in cable gives you a ready-to-use connection. For a longer reach, you can use a separate cable through the charger’s additional USB-C port.

2. What Does 65W Mean for Your Devices?

MagCore’s USB-C port and built-in USB-C cable each support up to 65W when used individually. That gives you two ways to connect a compatible USB-C phone, tablet, or laptop.

Check your device’s charging requirements before choosing. A laptop designed around a higher-wattage adapter may need more power during demanding work. A phone will draw the power its charging system supports.

The useful question is whether the charger supports your device’s needs. Look at the recommended adapter wattage and charging protocol, then compare them with MagCore’s specifications.

3. What Happens When You Plug In Three Devices?

Picture arriving at a hotel with a laptop, phone, and another accessory that all need charging.

MagCore provides three outputs—one USB-C port, the built-in USB-C cable, and one USB-A port. The USB-A output is rated for up to 18W, while the charger’s combined output is 65W in total.

When several devices are connected, they share that power budget. If your laptop needs the full available USB-C output, charge it on its own first. For a regular multi-device setup, check the power allocation for the combination you plan to use.

One Less Thing to Untangle Before You Leave

The convenience becomes clear when it’s time to pack again.

The built-in cable retracts into the charger, and the connector snaps into its magnetic storage position. Your USB-C connection stays with the adapter as it moves from your desk to your bag.

If you carry older accessories, check their connectors too. The extra USB-A and USB-C ports give you places to connect them, with the appropriate separate cables.

Check the Plug Before Your Next Trip

MagCore uses a US plug and is listed for 110–240V input. Check the voltage and socket type at your destination. ChubbyCable states that UK and Australia orders include a plug adapter.

For a daily commute or a short trip, start by checking your main device and the distance to the outlet. If the built-in cable reaches comfortably and the power suits your setup, MagCore puts two items from your packing checklist into one.
